Nazaré is about two hours North of Lisbon. This town which was once known as a cute little fishing village has been transformed into a European resort.
Here is a birds eye view of Nazaré from the cliff top site Promontório do Sítio.
Just one of the many streets that make up Nazaré.
As you can see, restaurants/cafes just seem to pop out buildings.
One of the main squares in town.
My hotel was just before the yellow building on the left. No beach view but I'm not complaining.
I was amazed to see how much stuff could be made from sea shells.
These women were selling nuts and dried fruits (very yummy). You could find similar vendors in just about every town.
I took a picture of the stone work of the sidewalks (and some streets) since this seemed to be pretty standard throughout Portugal. Not necessarily the pattern but the stone work in general.
Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Alcobaça

While in Nazaré I ventured out of town to what is supposed to be the best Gothic building and the largest church in Portugal (not that I could or would refute it). It was started in 1178 and some 40 years later the monks actually moved in.
